The Gastein Valley places great importance on the environment. Numerous ski buses operate free of charge between the villages and valley stations, including the valley station in Sportgastein. The Gastein cable car operators are also highly committed to environmental protection. The electricity for cable cars and snowmaking systems comes from hydropower.
