1/18 Spieljochbahn II
The overall project of the new 10-seater gondola lift to Spieljoch was inaugurated on December 22, 2017, after only nine months of construction, just in time for the start of the 2017/18 winter season. Together with the lower section Spieljochbahn I, the state-of-the-art gondola replaces the 4-seater gondolas Spieljoch I and Spieljoch II.
Spieljochbahn II transports guests from the mid-station up to the new mountain station. Those arriving from the valley with Spieljochbahn I can travel directly to the mountain station without changing lifts. Architecturally similar to the valley station in Fügen, the mountain station features plenty of wood and glass. It houses restaurants, a guest kindergarten, ski depots, and facilities for medical care.
The modern 10-seater cabins of Spieljochbahn II were designed by the renowned design studio Pininfarina. The Diamond EVO 2017 cabins, used here for the first time, together with a higher travel speed, double the transport capacity of the Spieljochbahn compared to its predecessor.
The combination of shorter waiting times and faster rides means much more time for fun in the snow. The new Spieljochbahn marks the beginning of a new era for the Zillertal and the Erste Ferienregion im Zillertal. In connection with the planned "Peak-to-Peak" lift (linking Hochzillertal and Spieljoch), which is set to be completed in the future, it represents a small sensation.
