1/21 Spieljochbahn I
On December 22, 2017, the new, state-of-the-art Spieljochbahn I was opened right on time for the 2017/18 winter season. The latest generation gondola lift from Leitner went into operation after just nine months of construction. The overall Spieljochbahn project consists of two sections and replaces the aging 4-seater gondola lifts Spieljoch I and Spieljoch II.
Spieljochbahn I starts from a completely newly built valley station in Fügen. It runs up to the mid-station at 1,198 m. From there, you can continue without changing lifts with the Spieljochbahn II to the new mountain station. This station was not only newly built and modernized, but is now located slightly higher at 1,865 m.
The ultra-modern 10-seater cabins of the Spieljochbahn come from the design studio Pininfarina, which is also known for designing Italian sports cars. The Diamond EVO 2017 cabin made its debut on the Spieljochbahn. Combined with a higher travel speed, the lift’s transport capacity has doubled compared to its predecessor!
The facades of the new valley station in Fügen are made of wood and glass elements. In addition to the Spieljochbahn, the building houses a sports shop with spacious sales areas and an innovative service center where skis and snowboards are serviced using the latest technology.
Shorter waiting times combined with faster rides mean much more time for fun in the snow. Thus, the Spieljochbahn marks a new era for the Zillertal and the First Holiday Region in the Zillertal. Together with the planned "Peak-to-Peak" lift (connecting Hochzillertal and Spieljoch), which is set to be completed in the future, it represents a small sensation.
