There are excellent options for cross-country skiing in the upper areas around Mönichkirchen and Mariensee. The Wechsel-Semmering-Panoramaloipe trail leads from the mountain station of the Panoramabahn Mariensee lift to the Marienseer Schwaig and Feistritzer Schwaig. The cross-country trail passes through very scenic landscapes below the Niederwechsel and Hochwechsel peaks. If you wish you can carry on from here; on the Steyersberger Schwaig trail, for example. You can therefore find an excellent and extensive network of trails here.
