Beginners Winterberg (Skiliftkarussell)
For beginners, Herrloh is the first choice. Both at the Remmeswiese entry point and at the Herrloh practice lifts, you will find ski rental, ski school office, and lift access within walking distance of each other. While at Remmeswiese a conveyor belt and the Rauher Busch chairlift serve a gently sloping but rather narrow slope, at Herrloh three less comfortable tow ropes lead to a very wide practice slope. The very short conveyor belt there is really only suitable for the very first attempts on skis. Parking is limited at both entry points, and there can also be longer waiting times at the ski rental stations. If you want to be ready and fully equipped at the start of your lesson, you should allow for some extra time, especially on weekends and during holidays.
Once you have mastered the snowplow turn, you can already explore the entire Skiliftkarussell, as you can reach all areas via easy slopes. However, you may occasionally have to take narrower slopes, which can get quite crowded on busy days. For example, the slope at the Brembergkopf 2 ski lift is less frequented. On such days, a points card is also recommended for beginners.
