Advanced skiing, freeriding (powder snow skiing) Rosa Khutor
Krasnaya Polyana already had a reputation as a freeriding mecca before anyone in Sochi even considered topics like the Olympic Games. This was due in no small part to the heliskiing operation established here by a French company back in the last century. Part of the former heliskiing area is now within the boundaries of Rosa Khutor. The Rosaspitze offers excellent terrain away from the groomed slopes. And even those groomed slopes can be quite challenging in places.
- many freeride/deep snow areas
- few mogul slopes
- few extremely difficult, steep and unprepared runs (Double Diamonds)

Direttissima from the Rosaspitze to the finish area of the Olympic downhill races. The greatest challenge awaits right at the start: a narrow couloir between the rocks.
General note: Always mind the avalanche warnings and barriers, please. Never ski into a closed and unsecured area.
