Description Park City

Description of the Canyons area (This area was merged with Park City Mountain Resort in 2015):

Just before Park City lies the ski area The Canyons (formerly Park West), which was completely revitalized in 1997. From the parking lots, you float up to the resort hotel and the base stations of the ski area in an eight-person Cabriolet lift. The eight-passenger Red Pine Gondola takes you directly up to the Red Pine Lodge.

At Red Pine Lodge, there is a large area for beginners: magic carpets, the High Meadow quad chairlift, and easy forest runs. The detachable quad chairlift Saddleback Express gives access to plenty of intermediate to advanced forest runs, including the runs The Aspens and The Pines through the woods.

From here, you can reach the two detachable quad chairlifts Sun Peak Express and Super Condor Express, which take you up to Murdock Bowl on the right side of the ski area. In Murdock Bowl and Rendezvouz Bowl, advanced skiers will find very steep powder runs. At Sun Peak Express, there are many intermediate to advanced runs. From both lifts, you can glide back down to the base via a flat cat track and a short rope tow.

To reach other lifts, the best way is to ski down from the top station of Saddleback Express or from Red Pine Lodge to the detachable six-seater Tombstone Express, which takes you to Paradise Bowl and connects to the detachable quad Ninety Nine 90 Express.

With the Ninety Nine 90 Express, you reach Redpine Bowl with very challenging runs and exclusively other black runs, so nothing for beginners. At the base station of the quad chairlift, another quad chairlift, Peak 5, starts, taking winter sports enthusiasts to more easy to intermediate forest runs.

The triple chairlift Day Break and the quad chairlift Dreamscape open up the last slopes in the Canyons ski area. From here, you can cruise down easy runs back to Tombstone Express, which connects to Red Pine Lodge.

Unfortunately, you cannot ski directly down to the base from Red Pine Lodge. You either take the short triple chairlift Short Cut up to Orange Bubble Express, or from the top station of Saddleback Express, ski via Sun Lodge and continue on the very easy Willow Draw run down to the base station. The short rope tow then pulls you back up to the gondola. Alternatively, you can use the Over and Out chairlift.

In Canyons Village, there are many shops, restaurants, and après-ski with live music.
