This is where the Alpine Center is located, hosting the alpine skiing as well as the bobsleigh and luge events. For the Olympic Games, a high-speed rail connection was also built directly to Beijing. Numerous other facilities, such as the Olympic Village and the media center for optimal international coverage, were opened.
