Partially long flat connecting trails between the lifts, connection from the Sonnenbahn to the practice area only via SeetaxiDescription Turracher Höhe
At the border between Styria and Carinthia, Turracher Höhe is situated at 1,763 meters. Around Lake Turracher See, cable cars and lifts take you up the surrounding mountains. On the Styrian side, the six-seater chairlift with weather protection hoods and heated seats, Kornock, starts its ascent to the mountain of the same name, which is also the highest point in the ski area at 2,205 meters.
From here, numerous runs lead down over treeless slopes. This is where you’ll find the Snowpark Turracher Höhe, the Funslope, and the Funcross. Advanced skiers will prefer the steep slope beneath the chairlift, while other winter sports enthusiasts can enjoy the wide pistes on almost treeless hillsides.
Since the 2015/16 season, runs from Kornock lead to the new Schafalmbahn. This six-seater chairlift with weather protection hoods and heated seats opens up new, attractive slopes.
An easy run branches off from the Kornock run to the Panoramabahn, which allows you to float back towards Kornock from the Carinthian side of the lake. The Panoramabahn is a combination lift with eight-person gondolas and six-seater chairs. The Panorama run leads beneath the combination lift back to the valley station, and you can also reach the Seetaxi via the Ländereck run.
At the Panoramabahn, you’ll find the Nocky Flitzer, an alpine coaster operating year-round, which takes you 1.6 km down the mountain—a ride on the Nocky Flitzer is not to be missed.
To reach the slopes and lifts on the eastern side of the lake, you can either be pulled across the lake by the so-called "Seetaxi," a tractor with handrails, or glide through the "Maulwurf" ski bridge near the Kornockbahn to the Wildkopf drag lift. The "Seetaxi" travels exactly along the border between Styria and Carinthia, taking you from the Übungswiesenlift to the double chairlift Sonnenbahn and back.
With the Sonnenbahn, you reach intermediate runs at the Weitental drag lift and continue along a long connecting trail to the six-seater chairlift with weather protection hoods, Turrachbahn. You can also reach the Turrachbahn via the Wildkopflift and the Zirbenwaldbahn, a six-seater chairlift with weather protection hoods. On the right side of the Turrachbahn, the intermediate FIS run leads down to the valley station, while on the left, the intermediate Eisenhut run descends. The runs, including the challenging Adrenalin/Direttissima run directly beneath the six-seater chairlift, pass through forest clearings and are all pleasantly wide.
To return from the mountain station of the Turrachbahn to Turracher Höhe, you can take run no. 22 "Seitensprung" and the Weitental drag lift to the Sonnenbahn. From the valley station of the Sonnenbahn, the "Seetaxi" takes you to the Übungswiesenlift, and from there, a medium run leads back to the Kornockbahn. Via the Zirbenwald run, you can swing over to the six-seater chairlift of the same name, and via the Wildkopf run and the "Maulwurf" rope lift, you can also return to the west side to the Kornockbahn.
There are plenty of rustic and cozy ski huts along the slopes for a break, and you can also enjoy après-ski in the otherwise relatively quiet village at the pass summit near the Kornockbahn.
A special highlight is the Service Point at the valley station of the Kornockbahn, offering massage chairs, internet, a baby changing room, lounge, and apples—this is true guest service. You also receive dextrose and tissues when you purchase a ski pass.
Unique at Lake Turracher See is the lakeside pool of Hotel Hochschober, where you can bathe in heated water in the middle of winter, surrounded by the ice of Lake Turracher See, with a view of the slopes. Also located directly on Lake Turracher See is "Das Schöne Teehaus am Berg," which is unique in the Alps.
