Access Solitude & on-site parking

The ski resort of Solitude in the state of Utah is situated south east of Salt Lake City in the Wasatch Mountains. The ski resort is just 40 minutes or so from Salt Lake City. The journey takes you over a mountain road through Big Cottonwood Canyon.

Administrative directives apply for winter driving conditions (UDOT Traction Law: rules for snow chains, winter tyres and/or four-wheel drive). The road can be closed at times due to avalanche risk.

Car parks for day visitors are located near the Moonbeam Base Area. Depending on the day of the week and the season, as well as the number of people in the car, parking is either free or different charges apply. Visitors staying overnight in Solitude village get on at the Apex Express. There is another car park here.

Winter Closure

The Guardsman Pass is closed in winter. This means there is no road through Big Cottonwood Canyon in winter and it ends after the ski resort of Solitude at the ski resort of Brighton.
