Evaluated by Skiresort.info, the world's largest test portal for ski resorts.
The evaluation is done as follows
Environmental protection of the ski resort SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental
The environmental protection activities of SkiWelt are exemplary. The Sonnenlift in Brixen is 100% solar-powered. At the Jochbahn in Brixen, a solar power system has been installed. A small hydroelectric power plant is used to produce a significant amount of energy independently. For many years, 100% renewable energy (green electricity) from Tyrolean hydropower has also been used.
When producing artificial snow, care is taken to ensure gentle snowmaking. The snow ponds are mainly filled in summer with precipitation and snowmelt. The grooming machines are equipped with a sophisticated snow measurement system. GPS-controlled slope management enables efficient and resource-saving snow management, resulting in enormous savings of artificially produced snow and energy.
Ski buses in all towns take guests to the lift facilities. In Scheffau, Hopfgarten, and Brixen, there are free charging stations for electric cars at the parking lots. Renewable energy or waste heat is used to heat various SkiWelt facilities. At all valley and mountain stations, there is a waste separation system, and strict attention is paid to waste separation. There are plenty of waste bins available everywhere to prevent environmental pollution.
The mountain huts mainly use regional products from the area and focus on sustainability. Building colors are chosen in harmony with nature, and construction projects are supervised by environmental protection experts.
SkiWelt has already received several environmental awards, such as the Ecology Award at the World Snow Awards in 2017.
