From Sölden, you continue for about 15 minutes to reach the mountain village of Obergurgl, which is situated over 500 meters higher. Shortly before Obergurgl, you pass through Pill (formerly known as Untergurgl), from where you can glide up to the Wurmkoglhütte with the eight-person gondola Hochgurglbahn I + II via the Hochgurgl mid-station.
Obergurgl and Hochgurgl are actually two ski areas, connected by the eight-person gondola Top-Express. From the entrance of Obergurgl, you can take the six-person gondola Festkogel or, directly from the village, the ten-person gondola Rosskar up to the high-altitude ski area of Obergurgl. Up here, you’ll find slopes of all difficulty levels on treeless and wide-open hillsides. A relatively easy run, passing Bubble Plattach, leads to the lifts below the Hohe Mut.
Here, the four-seater chairlift Bruggenboden and the detachable six-seater chairlift with weather hoods Steinmannbahn operate, mainly serving easy to intermediate forest runs. The eight-person gondola Hohe Mut II takes you up to the Hohe Mut (2,659 m) itself. From the Hohe Mut, a very steep ski route and an intermediate slope lead back down to the valley when there is enough snow. An easy slope runs alongside the eight-person gondola Hohe Mut I down into the village of Obergurgl.
To get to Hochgurgl, take slope no. 12 to the eight-person gondola Top-Express and, after about a 10-minute ride through the Ferwalltal and Königstal, you’ll reach Hochgurgl.
From here, you can take the Bubble Wurmkogl I and Wurmkogl II lifts up to the highest point in the ski area, at 3,030 m. At the top, you’ll find the Top Mountain Star and enjoy a magnificent view of the Ötztal, the Sölden ski area, and even as far as the Dolomites. The upper part of the run at Wurmkogl is difficult, but it can also be bypassed via easier slopes, and from the Wurmkoglhütte, it turns into a beautiful, easy, and wide run. You can continue down to the Hoteldorf Hochgurgl via an easy or difficult run, from where you can take the Große Karbahn, a detachable six-seater chairlift with weather hoods, back up the mountain.
From the Hoteldorf, an intermediate forest run leads all the way down to Pill. The Hochgurglbahn then takes you back up the mountain. Next to the valley station of the Bubble Wurmkogl I, the eight-person gondola Schermerspitzbahn starts and takes you up to just below the 3,007 m high Schermerspitze. The runs here are mostly intermediate, and you can enjoy wonderful off-piste excursions.
The Krumpwasser drag lift offers easy runs for beginners. The ten-person gondola Kirchenkar starts at the Mountain Cross Point and serves wide slopes with easy and intermediate runs. The Vorderer Wurmkogl I+II drag lift provides access to additional difficult runs next to the Königstal.
To return to Obergurgl, take the Top-Express again. Now you can either ski down to the Festkoglbahn valley station or glide to the mid-station of the ten-person gondola Rosskar to reach the easy valley run over the Gaisberg. In Obergurgl and Hochgurgl, cozy umbrella bars await for you to enjoy some après-ski.
