Description Cypress Mountain

From West Vancouver, you drive up a long road to the base station at around 910 m, where you’ll find plenty of parking spaces. For beginners, the Easy Rider Quad four-seater chairlift is conveniently located near the base station. The double chairlift "Midway Chair" serves easy runs in the valley area.

Parallel to this, the detachable four-seater chairlift "Lions Express" takes you much higher, up to 1,275 m. From the top, the very easy Collins run leads back down to this lift. There is also a wide selection of intermediate to advanced runs leading down to the base station.

Another double chairlift, the "Sky Chair," runs from just below the top station of the "Lions Express" four-seater chairlift up to Mount Strachan at 1,440 m, the highest point in the ski area. From here, you can return to the "Sky Chair" via advanced and intermediate runs, or take the challenging "Top Gun" and "Humpty Dumpty" runs back down to the base station. On the other side, at Black Mountain, another chairlift operates: the detachable four-seater "Eagle Express." It takes you up to the 1,220 m high Black Mountain. This mountain is very popular among winter sports enthusiasts, as it offers runs of all difficulty levels.

Since the 2007/2008 season, Cypress Mountain has had 40% more slopes, as the new four-seater chairlift "Raven Ridge" opens up completely new runs down to 824 m above sea level. Five advanced and expert as well as intermediate forest runs lead to this lift. Experts prefer the runs "Hose Side," "Trumpeter," "Black Fly," "Meteor," and "Black on Black."

The easy runs "Panorama" and "Windjammer" take you back to the base station. If you miss the last ride on the Raven Ridge four-seater chairlift, you’ll have to walk about 20 minutes back to the base station.

The first-class terrain parks are located at Black Mountain. Night skiing is highly recommended, as almost all runs are open and you have a great selection of slopes until about 10 pm.

If you don’t have a four-wheel drive vehicle, don’t forget your snow chains, as the road up to the ski area can often be quite slippery.
