Access, Parking Buttermilk Mountain

You will need about one hour from Highway 70 to reach Buttermilk Mountain ski resort. There is sufficient free parking available. Many visitors park here and use the free shuttle buses to the other Aspen ski resorts. You can only park for free at Buttermilk Mountain.


Access via Highway 70 Denver-Grand Junction, Exit Glenwood Springs

Summit Express (Aspen)

Ideal entry for day visitors

  • approx. 49 Minutes driving time

Roads: Main street, Side road, very well-developed, without significant incline
Parking spaces: enough available, tarmac car park, gravel car park, free of charge

Winter Closure

Highway 82 to Twin Lake over the Independence Pass is closed in the winter. Aspen is only accessible via Basalt and Glenwood Springs (Highway 70) in the winter.
