No challenging slopes, manageable range of pistes, ski area is difficult to reach by public transportDescription Belchen
Since the 2001/2002 season, the Belchen (1,414 m), the third highest mountain in the Black Forest, has been accessible via a modern eight-person gondola lift. The former mountain road (3.5 km) to the Belchenhaus is now available to winter sports enthusiasts as a toboggan run and family ski slope and has been closed to traffic year-round. With the modern Expo-Skyliner cabins, each accommodating 8 people, you glide up to the historic Belchenhaus at an altitude of 1,356 m. From here, four runs lead down into the valley: the easy Kleine Belchenabfahrt, the intermediate runs Kaltwasser, Slalomhang, and Hintere Schneise. All runs start in open terrain at the top, then continue through forested sections, and meet at the Belchenstraße, where the gondola crosses. From there, an easy run, the so-called Donauwellenabfahrt, leads all the way down to the valley station. It is recommended to hike up to the summit of the Belchen, as you can enjoy a magnificent panorama of the Rhine plain, Alsace, the Vosges, and the snow-covered Alpine peaks from there. For refreshments, you can visit the historic Belchenhaus directly at the mountain station, which is also the highest inn in Baden-Württemberg. In the valley, just below the Belchenbahn, there is also the Skischullift Belchen Multen. This is a rope tow with a ski school, specially designed for beginners.
Additional drag lifts in the Belchenland area can be found in Münstertal and Wieden.
