Advanced skiers really get their money's worth in Kitzbühel with its many difficult slopes and ski routes. They are especially enticed by the powder slopes on the Zweitausender, Hochsaukaser, Steinbergkogel and Pengelstein. The Mausefalle on the Streif is particularly steep. This is where the annual Hahnenkamm Race takes place. The Direttissima run (Schlagl) with its 70% incline is also not to be scoffed at. LVS checkpoints with current information about the avalanche situation are installed at nine mountain stations.
