The community of Werfenweng has made sustainability a priority and is a model village for "soft mobility - car-free tourism". A cooperation amongst the Werfenweng accommodation providers stands behind the "SAnfte MObilität (SAMO) – Urlaub ohne Auto" (soft mobility - holiday without automobiles) project. Their holiday guests exchange their car keys for the SAMO card upon arrival - provided they didn't arrive by train. This guarantees them free environmentally friendly transportation. Included here are E-Lois taxi drivers, E-scooters, E-funriders, electric cars as well as cars powered by bio gas made from the meadow grass.
