From San Giuseppe at around 1,500 m, the Valmalenco ski area rises over the Alpe Palù up to Cima Motta (2,336 m) and to the slopes of Sasso Nero (2,921 m). From Chiesa Valcamenco, a cable car takes guests directly to Alpe Palù. The winter sports area in the Italian part of the Bernina Group offers not only skiing but also other activities such as cross-country skiing trails, snowshoeing, and winter hiking paths.
