The slopes for skiing on Mount Olympos (1,952 m), the highest mountain on the island, are served by several lifts. The winter sports area is about an hour's drive from Limassol on the coast and about an hour and a half by car from Nicosia. In addition to alpine skiing, cross-country trails also attract visitors during the ski season (January–March), provided there is sufficient snow.
