Coming from the west, follow the A5 motorway to Freiburg Mitte. After passing through the city of Freiburg, take the well-developed two-lane federal road 317 for a short distance before turning onto a narrower, winding country road at Kirchzarten. The road climbs steadily up to the Notschrei Pass. The drive from Freiburg takes about 40 minutes.
If you are coming from the east (Württemberg), take the A81 motorway. Exit at Bad Dürrheim and then follow the well-developed federal roads 31 and 317 to Todtnau, from where a short, steep road leads to Todtnauberg. The distance from Stuttgart is about 190 km (2 hours by car).
From the south (Basel/Lörrach), follow the well-developed federal road 317 to Todtnau. The distance from Basel is about 60 km (1 hour by car).
