The Saint-Lary-Soulan ski area starts at an altitude of 1,600 m. This means that the slopes are open up to this point from the first to the last day of the season. There are no slopes leading all the way down to the valley to Saint-Lary Village. In general, the Pyrenees receive plenty of snow in winter. However, if natural snowfall is lacking, snow cannons provide support on the most important slopes.
