Evaluated by Skiresort.info, the world's largest test portal for ski resorts.
The evaluation is done as follows
Environmental protection of the ski resort Sahnehang
The Sahnehang is located in the Kahler Asten nature reserve. However, since skiing has been taking place on the Sahnehang for almost 100 years, the slope was granted grandfather rights when the nature reserve was established. The installation of the snowmaking system was more difficult, and there will not be a water reservoir for snowmaking at the Sahnehang. This is not permitted in the nature reserve.
Therefore, it is likely that only drag lifts will remain, which at least consume less energy than chairlifts.
Overnight guests can use buses and trains in the region free of charge with the Sauerland Card.
- No direct train connection
Winterberg (5 km away, during the season bus connection for all arriving trains) - Small ski bus offering
- Scheduled buses
- During the weekdays, regular public buses run frequently. On weekends from December 26th to March 3rd, the AstenExpress ski bus supplements the existing bus service, providing seamless connections to the winter sports facilities. It travels from Winterberg train station (connections to all regular trains, free for Sauerland Card holders) to Sahnehang in just over 15 minutes, and from Sahnehang it takes two minutes to Nordhang (entrance to Skiliftkarussell Winterberg) or just over 10 minutes to Neuastenberg (Postwiesen ski area).
