Summary & description of the ski resort Postwiesen Skidorf – Neuastenberg

Skiresort.info test report

Expansive areas and t-bar lifts - the Postwiese

Summary of the ski resort Postwiesen Skidorf – Neuastenberg

Highlights:

A varied ski area whose diversity and open slopes in the low mountain range are second to none, offering a complete range of slope-side accommodations and service facilities (excellent ski school) all the way to après-ski. Thanks to snowmaking, it is relatively snow-sure.

Negative points:

Parking fees in the village, the small difference in altitude requires frequent use of lifts, unfortunately only drag lifts are available. The open south- and west-facing slopes do not retain snow very well, resulting in a shorter season compared to, for example, Winterberg.

Description Postwiesen Skidorf – Neuastenberg

The Postwiese ski area is located on the southern side of the Kahler Asten, below the health resort of Neuastenberg. Eight drag lifts and one toboggan lift provide access to slopes of all levels of difficulty, and thanks to the natural landscape, the ski area boasts 15 different pistes. Next to the Winter Sports Museum is the free large-capacity car park, from where you can ski directly to the Westhang drag lift. The parking spaces at the Obere Postwiese are arranged along the road, and unfortunately, parking here is subject to a fee. You can purchase your ski passes at the large-capacity car park as well as at the Obere Postwiese. The Tenne I drag lift and the Tenne II platter lift serve wide ski slopes next to the car park. If you take the Westhang drag lift, you will reach the Obere Postwiese and thus the other lifts as well. The Obere Postwiese (650m-730m) mainly offers easy and very wide slopes and is also served by the Obere Postwiese drag lift. This is where the fun park for snowboarders is located. The best park in the Wintersport Arena was designed by Schneestern and has already hosted the Chillanddestroy Snowboard Tour several times.

The two Osthang drag lifts are the longest in the area and run from the Untere Postwiese (605m) up to the Obere Postwiese (730m). At these lifts, you will find slopes of all levels of difficulty—advanced skiers appreciate the challenging runs Wichthang and Osthang-Steilhang, which descend to the valley to the left and right of the Osthang lifts. The intermediate Kanonenrohr run, which also ends at the Osthang lifts, is highly recommended. On the right side of the ski area, there is another drag lift and a toboggan lift with its own toboggan run.
