The Fichtelgebirge is located in northern Bavaria, between Bayreuth, Hof, and Marktredwitz, and offers numerous winter sports opportunities with its gentle hills. Near the Schneeberg at 1,053 m, the highest mountain in the Fichtelgebirge, the 1,024 m high Ochsenkopf nestles between the towns of Bischofsgrün (650 m) and Fleckl. It is easily recognizable by its radio antenna on the summit.
From Bischofsgrün, the modern 10-seater Ochsenkopf Nord gondola travels a good 2 km through dense forest up to the 1,024 m high Ochsenkopf. Here, the nearly 2 km long 10-seater Ochsenkopf Süd gondola from Fleckl also ends.
The very easy southern run down to Fleckl, like the northern run, leads through a forest clearing parallel to the gondolas. In the lower section, you may need to push a little. To reach the beautiful northern run, you have to make a short ascent from the Ochsenkopf mountain station and can then enjoy the 2.5 km long, mostly easy forest clearing run down to Bischofsgrün. For beginners, there is a practice lift at both Ochsenkopf Nord and Süd.
Near the Bischofsgrün valley station, the Latte drag lift is still in operation, and there is a ski jumping facility that is also open in summer (with a mat jump).
