No direct valley run from Sonnenalpe Nassfeld to TröpolachDescription Nassfeld – Hermagor
After 12 km of winding road from Tröpolach, you reach the Trögl ski area and a bit further on, the accommodations at Sonnenalpe Nassfeld.
From the Trögl ski area, two detachable four-seater chairlifts depart in different directions. One lift heads towards Gartnerkofel, where you can connect to the short four-seater FIS chairlift, which takes you to the beautiful FIS run No. 1. There are also intermediate runs served by the two detachable six-seater chairlifts Garnitzen I - La Prima and Garnitzen II - La Perla. From the mountain station of the La Prima six-seater chairlift, you can carve your way back down to the Trögl valley station via several wide, intermediate slopes.
Now you can take the other detachable four-seater chairlift up to Tressdorfer Höhe. From here, there are many ways to continue your ski day. You can either ski down to Sonnleitn and take the detachable Sonnleitn four-seater chairlift back up, or ski down to the pass and take the detachable six-seater Madritschen chairlift up to Madritsche (1,919 m), or carve towards Mössern and use the Rudnigsattel six-seater chairlift to reach the 15-person Trogkofelbahn gondola. This gondola runs from Rastl to just below the 2,020 m high Troghöhe and offers intermediate and advanced runs, as well as a speed track in the upper section where you can reach speeds of up to 80 km/h.
If you want to ski all the way down to the valley, take the 15-person Zweikofel gondola from Rastl and then start the 7.6 km long valley run "Carnia". Since December 1999, the "Millennium-Express" has been running from the valley in Tröpolach in three sections directly back up to the ski area at Madritsche, so you can use the valley run more often. The valley run first leads to Stolbitzbichl, then over a long flat section, and continues as an intermediate run through a forest clearing down to Gmanberg at 1,020 m, the first mid-station of the Millennium-Express, and then further down to Tröpolach. The lower part of the slope is very wide, illuminated, and offers night skiing.
There are also several places to stop for refreshments. Particularly recommended in the ski area are the Kofelalm, the Garnitzenalm, and the Tressdorfer Alm. If you don't want to take the "Carnia" valley run, you can ski from Rastl to Troghöhe and then down to Mössern, and take the detachable Mössernbahn Warm up six-seater chairlift back up to Madritsche. From there, you can return to the pass, to Trögl, or to Sonnleitn.
Further expansion stages are planned for the coming years, including a connection with Pontebba (Italy) for the ski area, so that the Nassfeld-Hermagor ski area can also compete internationally.
