Access, Parking Mt. Hutt

The Mt. Hutt ski area is centrally located on New Zealand's South Island. Christchurch is about 1.5 hours away from the ski area. From the ski town of Methven, you head towards Pudding Hill. There, a roughly 14 km long gravel road branches off and leads up to the ski area, which is sometimes quite steep and narrow. From Methven, you can reach the ski area in a good 30 minutes. Before heading up the mountain, you'll find a chain rental service on the access road. In case of fresh snow or uncertain weather conditions, the road remains closed. It is strongly recommended to bring snow chains.
