You can access the Keystone ski area directly from River Run Village via the eight-passenger River Run Gondola and the detachable four-seater chairlift Summit Express. From Dercum Mountain (3,548 m), the top station of both lifts, you can either take the six-passenger Outpost Gondola to the restaurants below North Peak or ski down the Mozart, Diamond Back, or Mine Shaft runs to the backside of the ski area. You’ll enjoy a magnificent view of the slopes of Breckenridge. From La Bonte’s Cabin, the detachable four-seater Santiago Express chairlift takes you up to North Peak (3,554 m). Just a few turns and you’ll reach the restaurants (Timber Ridge Food Court, Alpenglow Stube, and Fondue Chessel), or you can take one of the three intermediate runs over to the detachable four-seater Outback Express chairlift, which brings you to the farthest and highest point of the ski area at 3,651 m. Here, you’ll find plenty of challenging tree runs as well as intermediate slopes, sure to delight any skier. The Outback Snow Cat transports winter sports enthusiasts ($5.00 per ride) up to Wapiti Peak and Keystone Peak at 3,782 m.
To return to the front side, take the four-seater Wayback chairlift back up to North Peak, where you’ll have many options to get back to La Bonte’s Cabin. Less experienced skiers will prefer the intermediate Prospector run. The detachable six-seater Ruby Express chairlift quickly brings you back up to Dercum Mountain, from where you can access all the runs on the front side. You can either take the wonderfully wide and perfectly groomed easy to intermediate runs down to River Run Village or head over to Mountain House, where the detachable four-seater Peru Express chairlift starts for the A-51 Terrain Park. The park is equipped with everything you could wish for and is also served by the A-51 double chairlift. The detachable four-seater Montezuma Express chairlift provides another connection to Dercum Mountain. The runs on the front side of Keystone are mostly easy to intermediate, with a few short, steeper runs, all leading down through forest glades.
For beginners, there’s the Ranger triple chairlift on Dercum Mountain or the Discovery double chairlift in the valley at Mountain House, as well as several conveyor lifts scattered throughout the area. Between 4 and 5 pm, some runs on the front side are closed for grooming to ensure optimal conditions for night skiing. The River Run Gondola and the A-51 double chairlift are open daily until 9 pm during the season, and you can even ride the Montezuma Express until 6 pm. The Outpost Gondola operates until 11 pm to bring guests from Alpenglow Stube back down to the valley. Almost the entire front side is illuminated for night skiing, so you could ski here non-stop from morning until 9 pm. In River Run Village, cozy restaurants and bars invite you to relax during or after skiing or snowboarding.
