The cable car to Ještěd was put into operation in 1933, making it one of the oldest aerial cableways in the Czech Republic. In 1975, the cable car was thoroughly modernized and renovated. The mountain station was located at around 1000 m. The Ještěd TV tower is also located at the summit.
The cable car had to be shut down after an accident on October 31, 2021.
