In Altastenberg, the cross-country ski trails run directly along the village. As the highest-altitude settlement in northwest Germany, Altastenberg is particularly snow-sure, and the trails mostly offer scenic routes along the ridge of the Rothaar Mountains. There are also connections to the trail networks of Westfeld, Lenneplätze, and Langewiese, as well as to the one at Winterberg’s Bremberg. Via the Rothaarloipe, you can ski all the way to the Rhein-Weser-Turm, and along the Hunauspur to Ochsenkamp near Bad Fredeburg.
