The slope preparation is excellent.
They even prepare the extremely steep slopes with great care and these are still in top condition until the evening.
Tip: By new snow, an optimal slope prepartion is not always possible, even with a large effort. In addition, the new snow can not combine with the snow lying underneath and moguls are created quickly. For safety reasons, usually no slope preparation is possible during operating times.
The nearest expressway is about 100 km away from the ski resort. There is sufficient free parking directly at the valley stations in Kals and in Matrei. When coming from the North over Mittersill, the Felbertauren tunnel toll costs €10,- (status in 2011).

Orientation (trail map, information boards, sign-postings)
Trail map and overview maps:
The trail map depicts the ski resort very well. Unfortunately, there are hardly any altitude indications and the names of the mountain restaurants are not included on the plan.
Information boards and sign-postings on the slopes:
Exemplary information on the slopes and at the valley stations. The slopes are all marked with numbers and well sign-posted.
A high priority is placed on cleanliness. The gondola lifts are very clean and everywhere else in ski resort clean conditions can be found.
Environmentally friendly ski operation
The use of ski buses is actively encouraged in Matrei. The Kals cable car saves about 20% on energy costs due to the system installed in the middle station. Kals places a high value on soft tourism at the foot of the largest National Park in Austria.

Cozy mountain huts and restaurants are distributed throughout the ski resort. A definite highlight that was introduced in the 2009/2010 season is the new Adler Lounge on Cimaross. In the meantime, it is the highest Hauben restaurant in Austria.
