1/16 Matterhorn Glacier Ride I
The new 3S cableway Matterhorn glacier ride is the highest 3-cable gondola lift in the world. The lift, featuring cabins designed by Pininfarina, connects the Trockener Steg valley station with the Matterhorn glacier paradise at Klein Matterhorn, the highest mountain cableway station in Europe.
The new lift at Klein Matterhorn is produced by Leitner. It complements the existing aerial tramway Trockener Steg-Matterhorn glacier paradise. This spectacular installation requires only three support towers, which are up to 2,732 m apart. The maximum distance from the ground is 198 m.
A total of 25 spacious cabins, each with 28 seats, are equipped with heated seats and all-round panoramic glazing. Ground-level entry with especially large doors allows for easy transport of sports equipment and barrier-free access. This ensures a comfortable ascent with spectacular views of the high alpine surroundings for all guests.
The Matterhorn glacier ride is state-of-the-art. In addition to the innovative Leitner DirectDrive propulsion technology and the LeitControl system, all other components such as carrying and hauling cables, rollers, and brakes are equipped with the latest solutions.
