Description Zauchensee/Flachauwinkl

You can access the Zauchensee/Flachauwinkl ski circuit directly at the Flachauwinkl motorway exit or from Zauchensee.

The eight-person gondola Highliner I takes you from Flachauwinkl up to the Bodenalm. From there, the new Highliner II, a six-seater chairlift with weather shields, continues up to the 1930 m high Roßkopf. From here, you can ski down to Zauchensee on intermediate to easy slopes. Several lifts start here in different directions. The six-seater chairlift Tauernkar with weather shields leads up to the Rauchkopfhütte. From up here, you have a magnificent view all the way to Obertauern. The Tauernkar drag lift, coming from the other side with easy and wide runs, also ends at the mountain station of the six-seater chairlift.

To ski back down to Zauchensee, you can choose between a challenging south-facing run and a very easy family run. From Zauchensee, the four-person gondola Schwarzwand takes you up to the highest point in the Salzburger Sportwelt, the 2188 m high Gamskogel. Since the 2000/2001 season, you can take the short funicular Weltcupexpress all the way up to the Gamskogel summit to enjoy the 360-degree panoramic view. From up here, you can ski down on intermediate slopes above the tree line. The six-seater chairlift Gamskogel I runs almost parallel and connects to the six-seater chairlift Gamskogel II, which serves the upper slopes, so you don’t always have to ski all the way down to the valley if you want to enjoy the treeless slopes.

To return to Flachauwinkl, take the eight-person gondola Zauchensee-Roßkopf. Parallel to this gondola, there is the four-seater chairlift Unterberg I and the double chairlift Unterberg II, which also take you up to the Roßkopf. Coming from the double chairlift, however, you still need the short Kogelalmlift to get to Flachauwinkl, unlike with the gondola. At the double chairlift, you’ll find the cozy mountain hut Höchalm-Adlerhorst.

At the four-seater chairlift, there is a very steep mogul slope that will make even advanced skiers’ knees tremble. Thanks to the high lift capacities, you hardly ever have to wait, even during busy times! At the very top of the Roßkopf, the Kogelalm drag lift is still running, providing access to a training center with several fenced-off race courses. Now you have a wonderful valley run down to Flachauwinkl ahead of you. The intermediate run leads past the Gloneralm, Bodenalm, and Burgstallhütte all the way down to the Flachauwinkl gondola and the parking lots.

Throughout the ski area, there are plenty of charming, rustic huts for a break. Après-ski is also well taken care of—whether you prefer a cozy spot up on the mountain, one of the umbrella bars, or the valley stations in Zauchensee or Flachauwinkl.
