Description Whistler Blackcomb

The Whistler Blackcomb ski area consists of two mountains: Whistler Mountain and Blackcomb Mountain. From the Whistler Village Base Station, you can either glide up Blackcomb Mountain on the Excalibur eight-person gondola or take the eight-person gondola up Whistler Mountain.

At the top of Whistler Mountain, beginners will likely prefer the Emerald Express four-person chairlift or the Harmony Express six-person chairlift. Here, you can enjoy open, treeless slopes ranging from easy to intermediate. Advanced skiers, on the other hand, will head up Whistler Mountain on the Peak Express four-person chairlift, where you'll find very challenging runs. The descents down to the top station of the Creekside gondola and further down to Whistler Creekside are also highly recommended. A six-person gondola takes you back into the ski area from Creekside. Afterwards, you can float all the way back up Whistler Mountain on the Red Chair, a detachable four-person chairlift.

The gladed runs for advanced skiers through open forest are also highly recommended. On Whistler Mountain, Side Order, Club 21, and In Deep are especially worth trying. On Blackcomb Mountain, you have a dozen such "gladed runs" to choose from. Don't miss Outer Limits, In the Spirit, Where is Joe, and Bark Sandwich!

Now let's talk about Blackcomb Mountain, which is easily accessible via the Peak 2 Peak Gondola. As mentioned, from the village you can take the Excalibur gondola up to the mid-mountain. From there, the Excelerator Express four-person chairlift takes you up to Glacier Creek. Here, you need to decide whether to take the Glacier Express directly up to the glacier or the Jersey Cream Express to Rendezvous Christine's. From there, you glide along a cat track to the 7th Heaven Express. The 7th Heaven Express also takes you up to the glacier.

At the top of the Horstman Glacier, two shorter drag lifts operate until mid-August. From the top station of the Snowcase drag lift, you can access the run over the Blackcomb Glacier (note: this run is not for beginners). This run leads past the Excelerator Express and all the way down to Whistler.

From Whistler, you can float into the ski area on the Wizard Express, a detachable four-person chairlift with weather protection hoods.

After skiing or snowboarding, people meet up for a beer or two in one of the many bars or restaurants. Thanks to the charming village, modern lift facilities, excellently groomed slopes, beginner offerings, and steep back bowls, Whistler can count itself among the leading ski resorts in the world.
