Beginners Whakapapa – Mt. Ruapehu
Beginners will find an ideal practice area in Happy Valley, featuring several conveyor lifts and a double chairlift. Access is convenient from the parking lots via an elevator. Happy Valley is considered one of the best beginner areas in New Zealand. Happy Valley also offers its own ski rental and a meeting point for ski schools. The Rockgarden slopes at the Rangatira Express in the lower area of Whakapapa provide very easy runs for practice. Around the mountain station of the Sky Waka gondola, there are also very easy slopes at the Delta Chair. Advanced beginners can enjoy some of the wide, blue-marked slopes.
