Located in the pristine nature of the Hohe Tauern National Park, the Weißsee Gletscherwelt ski area places great importance on environmental protection. Gentle tourism is practiced here. The ski lifts are powered by green electricity from hydropower. There are high alpine conservation zones (no artificial snow at Tauernmoos and Medelzkopf) and a dedicated landscape conservation area at Weißsee. Regional products are served in the mountain huts and restaurants. The ski bus is subsidized.
