Vail, every winter sports enthusiast’s dream – perfectly groomed runs of all difficulty levels on the Front Side and endless powder slopes in the legendary Back Bowls and Blue Sky Basin. You can access the ski area from Vail Village, Lionshead, and Cascade Village. From Vail Village/Golden Peak, either the detachable four-seater chairlift Riva Express takes you via a mid-station up to Northwest Bowl, or the 10-person gondola Vista Bahn Express brings you to Mid-Vail. From there, further detachable four-seater chairlifts whisk you up to Patrol Headquarters at 3,430m or to Wildwood at 3,347m. Countless runs lead down to the valley, each more beautiful than the last. If you take the 12-person Eagle Bahn Gondola from Lionshead, you’ll reach Eagle’s Nest. If you glide into the area on the four-seater chairlift from Cascade Village, you can either head down to the Eagle Bahn Gondola or take the detachable four-seater chairlift Pride Express up to Eagle’s Nest. Wonderful, wide runs, from easy to difficult, lead down to Lionshead, and a connecting trail also takes you back to Cascade Village. An easy run leads from Eagle’s Nest into Game Creek Bowl, from where the detachable four-seater chairlift Game Creek Express also takes you up to Wildwood. Now you can plunge into the Back Bowls! Challenging runs take you down to the High Noon four-seater chairlift, which then leads up to Patrol Headquarters. From here, less advanced skiers can also take the easy Sleepytime run into Blue Sky Basin, which was completely newly opened for the 1999/2000 season. The detachable four-seater chairlift Skyline Express takes you to endless powder runs through forest and open ski slopes. The other bowls, Pete’s and Earl’s Bowl, are also accessed by the respective detachable four-seater chairlifts. The top station of Pete’s Express is the highest point in the Vail ski area (3,527m). To return to the Front Side, you can take either the Tea Cup Express or the Orient Express, both detachable four-seater chairlifts. From the top station of the Orient Express, you can pass through Siberia Bowl and, with the help of the Mongolia platter lift, continue on to Inner Mongolia Bowl and Outer Mongolia Bowl – all open terrain and dreamy powder runs.
After skiing or snowboarding, you can enjoy après-ski in Vail.
