The Spieserbahn replaces the Schlepplift Großer Spieserlift, which was built in 1962. The modern 6-seater chairlift runs approximately along the route of its predecessor. In addition to the generally higher comfort as a chairlift (compared to the drag lift), the 6-seater chairlift also offers weather protection hoods, a significantly higher transport capacity, and a ride time that is about half as long.
