For the 2017/18 season, the new areitXpress began operating on the Schmittenhöhe in Zell am See. This state-of-the-art 10-seater gondola lift has increased the transport capacity on the route by 50%. It also takes skiers up the mountain faster, more comfortably, and without waiting times.
After 29 years of service, the predecessor of the areitXpress, the 6-seater gondola lift Areit, was dismantled and replaced by the modern and comfortable 10-seater gondola lift. While its predecessor transported 2,400 people per hour, the new areitXpress has a capacity of up to 3,600 people per hour.
The new facility from Doppelmayr’s “D-Line” model series offers level walk-in access and greater riding comfort thanks to increased legroom and a silent ascent. The areitXpress is equipped with free Wi-Fi and heated seats, and the ride up the mountain now takes only about 7 minutes. Access is also extremely comfortable via five passenger elevators.
At the new mountain station, several options await you as you exit. Directly above are a sports shop and the ski school. With skis or a snowboard on your feet, you can either head straight down the Schütt descent towards the valley or take the Glocknerbahn further up the mountain. Immediately to the left of the exit is the mountain restaurant AreitAlm.
