The Penkenbahn is a world first: it is the first 3-cable gondola lift worldwide with a curve. The state-of-the-art lift system with 32-person cabins from Doppelmayr replaces the 15-person Penken gondola lift. The Penkenbahn connects Mayrhofen with the Penken sector.
The most important feature of the Penkenbahn, compared to other 3-cable lifts, is its curve. The curve saddle has a length of 50 meters and an angle of 6.5°. During the construction of the Penkenbahn, the stations were also designed to be barrier-free.
