With many challenging descents and ski routes, advanced skiers really get their money's worth in Kitzbühel. The numerous deep-snow slopes on Zweitausender, Hochsaukaser, Steinbergkogel, and Pengelstein are especially attractive for experts. The Mausefalle on the Streif is particularly steep. This is where the annual Hahnenkamm race takes place. The Diretissima descent (Schlagl) with a 70% gradient is also not to be underestimated. At nine mountain stations, avalanche transceiver checkpoints have been installed to provide information about the current avalanche situation.
