Only a groomed, flat connecting trail from the mountain station to the valley stationDescription Kicking Horse – Golden
From the town of Golden, it’s about a 15-minute drive up to the Village at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort and the parking lots. With relatively few lifts, a vast area with long runs of all difficulty levels is accessible here. From the Day Lodge, the Catamount quad chairlift starts, mainly serving easy and wide slopes below the tree line. The modern Golden Eagle Express eight-person gondola takes you directly up to the summit at 2,347 meters. At the summit, you’ll find the notable Eagle’s Eye Restaurant and Bar, offering a magnificent view of the Rockies. From here, the longest and easiest run (mostly a cat track), "It’s a Ten," leads down into the valley. You can also enter the CPR Ridge directly from the top station and reach the Crystal Bowl via very steep slopes. At the end of the Crystal Bowl, the Stairway to Heaven quad chairlift starts, taking you to the highest point in the ski area and providing access to challenging powder runs on Redemption Ridge, in the Feuz Bowl, and more runs down into the Crystal Bowl. The easy runs from Eagle’s Eye down to the valley also pass through the Crystal Bowl. To get to Bowl Over, you need to ski left from the top station via difficult runs or traverse a bit below the gondola, opening up another vast area with powder runs. Slightly above the Day Lodge, there are additional parking lots and the Pioneer double chairlift, which was in operation when the area was known as Whitetooth before Kicking Horse Mountain Resort opened. The double chairlift gives access to glade runs ranging from difficult to easy, and you can also ski back over to the Day Lodge. At the Day Lodge, there’s also the "Pony Express" magic carpet, specially designed for beginners. For dining, the Eagle’s Eye Restaurant or Peaks Grill are highly recommended. You can also grab snacks at Heaven’s Door Yurt at the base of the Stairway to Heaven quad chairlift or visit other restaurants at the base station.
