The Kaunertal Glacier is located at the end of the Kaunertal valley, a side valley in the Ötztal Alps. It takes just under an hour to get there from the Reschen exit of the A12 Inntal motorway. The drive up to the glacier is an experience in itself. Probably Austria’s most beautiful dead-end road offers unique perspectives.
From the toll station in the valley, it’s 26 km and 29 hairpin bends to the glacier car park at 2,750 m. When the Ochsenalmbahn 1 is operating, you can already park at 2,150 m and float up to the glacier with the four-seater chairlift. Parking is free of charge. The toll for the Kaunertal Glacier Road is included in the ski pass.
