Environmental protection of the ski resort Ischgl/Samnaun – Silvretta Arena
In Ischgl and Samnaun, great importance is placed on environmental protection. Since the 2019/20 season, it has been the largest climate-neutral ski area in the Alps. In this effort, Silvrettaseilbahn AG was supported by ClimatePartner and Vitalpin. Ischgl will continue to intensify its efforts to reduce CO2 emissions in the future. Waste is separated in the ski area. An extensive ski bus network ensures smooth transportation to the cable cars in Ischgl and Samnaun. The restaurants are connected to the local wastewater treatment plant via a sewage system. Thanks to solar and heat recovery systems in the ski area, around 80,000 liters of heating oil can be saved each year. Additionally, wildlife protection zones have been established in the ski area.
