Palinkopfbahn (YOC 2017)
Maximum comfort at the Palinkopfbahn in Ischgl

In summer 2017, after 20 years of operation and approximately 12 million rides, the old Palinkopfbahn was replaced by a state-of-the-art 6-seater chairlift (D-Line) from Doppelmayr (cable car technology).

The valley station (2,413 m) is located near the Schwarzwand restaurant in the heart of the Silvretta Arena and leads over 16 round tube supports to one of the most beautiful and highest spots in the ski area, the Palinkopf (2,853 m).

DESIGN

Everything about the Palinkopfbahn has been completely designed, from the access gate to the comfortable seat padding. A special highlight is the unique backrests of the chairs, featuring the stars of past Top of the Mountain concerts.

INNOVATION

The new facility is packed with the latest technology. The “D-Line” cable car system brings 205 improvements, 31 innovations, and 14 patents.

COMFORT

Maximum passenger comfort and quiet operation make the new Palinkopfbahn truly first class. The new high-tech chairlift offers a range of noticeable improvements for our guests:

- Ergonomically shaped individual seats

- 520 mm wide seats with heating

- Safety-optimized design

- Optimized safety bar

- For exceptionally quiet operation and thus special comfort for our guests, the next generation of cable cars is designed to be particularly low-noise and low-vibration

ENVIRONMENT

Environmental considerations were also taken into account during the construction of the new lift. Thanks to a new cable routing, five support locations could be eliminated. In addition, approximately 400 meters of avalanche barriers will be dismantled and replaced by a remotely controlled system for temporary avalanche release. The four-seater chairlift will be dismantled into its individual parts and reassembled at another winter sports resort in Scandinavia.
