You can catch a glimpse of a small part of the ski area from Highway 89—just take a turn and you’ll arrive at the North Lot or South Lot parking areas. The larger base station, North Lot, offers a practice area with two platter lifts and a conveyor belt.
From here, the Madden triple chairlift swings up the mountain, passing a mid-station where you can board from the uphill side. From the top station, you can access the three other chairlifts in the ski area. If you take the Homeward Bound run, you’ll reach the Ellis Chair triple chairlift, or you can glide further down to the South Lot base station.
From here, the Quail Chair triple chairlift starts, which also provides access to the Ellis Chair. Both the Ellis Chair and the detachable Old Homewood Express quad chairlift end at the summit. From up here, you can reach every point in the ski area. Runs of all difficulty levels wind through forest glades back down to the valley. There are many ways to choose your runs, and it’s almost impossible to ski them all in one day.
A special highlight is the view of Lake Tahoe, which accompanies you all day long, and the slopes look as if they end directly in the lake.
