The Hochkönig ski area has a very good ski bus system. You won't need your car for your entire holiday. Most mountain restaurants place great value on using regional ingredients. There are also clear rules indicating where skiing is permitted and where forests and wildlife have their protected zones.

The nearest train stations are Bischofshofen and Saalfelden. Buses run from here. - Comprehensive ski bus network
- Scheduled buses
- There is a well-developed ski bus network. The connections extend to Bischofshofen and Saalfelden – however, there is no bus connection between the villages of Maria Alm, Dienten, and Mühlbach.
