Slope inventory at indoor ski hall level, basic standard, irregular operationDescription Hedelands Skicenter
Skiing on real snow and in the open air – in Denmark, the best place to do this is at Hedeland Skibakken near Roskilde, the city best known for its rock festival and Viking museum. During the last festivals, the snow cannons of Denmark’s largest ski area were used to cool down visitors. Of course, their main purpose is to provide snow for the 280 m long ski slope. The first third of the slope has an average gradient of 27.42%, the middle section still boasts a respectable 15.85%, and it flattens out to 2.85% at the end – a profile similar to that of the Skihalle Neuss. However, the view from the top station at 78 m above sea level is much better: to the southeast, you can catch a glimpse of the Baltic Sea, just ten kilometers away.
The area is operated by Skiklub Roskilde, and all staff – whether in the ski lodge, at the rental shop, on the lift, or working with the snow cannons – are club members who volunteer their time to keep the dream of an alpine ski area in the middle of the Danish lowlands alive. True enthusiasts. The atmosphere is accordingly warm and welcoming. While you shouldn’t expect to pursue sporting ambitions at Hedeland Skibakken, it’s a great place for a pleasant skiing experience with like-minded people.
