Advanced skiing, freeriding (powder snow skiing) Grossglockner Heiligenblut
Experts and freeriders will get their money’s worth here. There is only one black run, but the four challenging, scenic ski routes and the endless freeride opportunities are sure to excite advanced skiers. Heiligenblut offers one of the most breathtaking freeride areas in the Eastern Alps. 15 km² of open ski terrain in high alpine surroundings—countless variants and descents. Thanks to the altitude of nearly 3,000 m, conditions are often excellent. Six different freeride sectors (ungroomed, open ski terrain) are described. At the Freeride Checkpoint at the mid-station, you can get information about the current avalanche situation, open ski routes, local weather with wind and temperature. The current avalanche transceiver check is also available. But caution: the freeride sectors are not protected against avalanches, not marked, and not monitored. A ski guide is recommended.
