Environmental friendliness of the ski resort Gitschberg Jochtal
The ski resort of Gitschberg Jochtal follows a policy of gentle tourism. 100% of the electricity for the lifts and for snow production comes from South Tyrolean hydraulic power (green energy). A wood chip plant in Vals provides heating for the village and in Meransen, you can find the first ‘Klimahotel’ (climate hotel) in South Tyrol. The village lifts in Meransen and Vals allow access to many hotels directly on skis: it is possible to enjoy your ski holiday without using your car. Ski buses (not free of charge) link the surrounding villages to the ski resort.
