Environmental protection of the ski resort Gazprom Mountain Resort
The 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi have faced criticism, not least because of the complete development of ski resorts in previously untouched natural areas. The Psekhako Ridge, where the Gazprom Mountain Resort is located, was heavily altered, especially for the construction of access roads—a fact that becomes particularly apparent when there is little snow. However, numerous compensatory measures were implemented as a result of the ski area expansion, including a project to reintroduce snow leopards. The exemplary connection of the ski resorts around Krasnaya Polyana to the public transport network is also a positive aspect. As part of the Games, the region was also connected to the gas supply, so there is no longer a need to heat with coal and wood, which has significantly improved air quality.
- Train connection
There is a direct train connection from Adler Airport to Esto-Sadok/Эсто-Садок, and the cable car starts right at the station. - No ski buses
